How Will The Search Engines Find My Site?

1. How Will The Search Engines Find My Site?

There are basically three ways to get your site listed in a search engine:

  • Submit your site directly to the search engine using a free submit form.

  • Let the search engine find your site through links to your site from other sites such as directories.

  • Pay the search engine to index your site.

2. Submit Your Site Using A Free Submit Form

Some of the major search engines and most of the smaller search engines will provide a form that you can use to submit your site for free. With the smaller or thematic search engines, this is a good method to use.

For each search engine you'll just need to locate the submit URL form and submit your home page. There is no need to submit anything else. And, you don't need to keep submitting your site month after month. Re-submitting your site over and over after it has been indexed does nothing but waste your time. It will not improve your rank in any way.

Don't be surprised when you find that not all of the major search engines even provide a free submission form any more. Don't worry though. With the major search engines, submitting your site isn't even necessary. This is because the major search engines will find your site through links to your site from other sites. This is why it is very important to begin getting incoming links to your site as soon as possible. You should start by getting your site listed in the major directories.

3. Submitting To Directories - Help the search engines find your site.

For the major search engines, if you get incoming links to your site from other quality sites, your site will be found. The best way to be sure your site is found is by submitting to the major directories that are crawled by the search engines. This is a good approach for the search engines to take because sites listed in directories have already been reviewed by an editor and been considered to be worth a listing.

So, in addition to the traffic that the directories can send to your site directly, getting listed in the major directories is also important for getting your site found by the major search engines.

To get started, be sure to get your site listed in the following directories that are crawled by the search engines:

When you are submitting to directories, be sure to take the time to find the best category for your site and read the submission guidelines provided by each directory. By following their guidelines, you will improve your chances of being listed and decrease the amount of time it takes to get listed.

Obviously, there are many more directories where you can submit your site. These three are provided to get you started. After you've submitted to these directories, then you can begin submitting to other directories. Don't forget to find local or thematic directories that are relevant to the topic of your site. You will be able to find many in our list of search engines and directories.

It will take time for the search engines to index your site after it has been listed in the major directories. So, be patient and expect to wait at least a couple more months before your site starts appearing in the index of the major search engines.

4. Pay the Search Engines to Index Your Site

Paid inclusion is the process of paying search engines to index pages from your site. The primary benefit is not having to wait for the search engine to find and index the pages of your site on its own.

The topic of paying to be indexed is covered in our Paid Inclusion section.

5. Services To Avoid

There are hundreds of "companies" that make claims about submitting your site to thousands of search engines. You've probably received an email message from one of these companies that had a pitch along the lines of...

We Will Submit Your Site to 500,000 Search Engines for Just $29.95!!

Don't fall for this scam - it is a complete waste of money.

First, there aren't 500,000 search engines.

Second, even if they claim to submit to just a few thousand, there aren't that many that will accept your listing because the search engines they submit to are thematic search engines. For example, if your site is about real estate, you won't be listed in a search engine or directory that is focused on sports.

Third, they will submit your site to Free For All links pages that no one will ever use. Plus, these free for all sites are notorious for harvesting email addresses so they can send you spam.

I could go on and on with the reasons why these services are a terrible waste of money. If you are contacted by one of these companies in any way, don't fall for their sales pitch, just ignore them.

6. Services That Can Help

With the warnings about the submission services we've discussed, it is important to point out that there are some services that can help. They won't arbitrarily try to submit your site just anywhere. They will develop a linking strategy specifically suited to your site. If you hire a professional search engine optimization company, this will be part of the services offered.

A professionally developed linking and submission strategy won't be cheap. It takes a good deal of time and research to do this properly.

What does VOIP mean? - A Guide to Understanding the Basics

Simply put VoIP is a protocol that allows for a computer to make a voice communication over the internet. A computer can call a computer, or it could even covert the signal and call an ordinary phone. With VoIP a user can call using a computer, a phone made special for VoIP or a normal phone equipped with a VoIP adapter. VoIP can also be accessed wirelessly in certain areas where such a connection is available such as internet cafes and other such hotspots. Simply put, VoIP allows people to talk over the internet just as one would over the phone.

In order to take advantage of VoIP the user will need a broadband high speed internet connection. Cable modems as well as services like DSL or even a local area network will fit this requirement. The other thing needed is a computer, a specialized phone or an adapter for a traditional phone. Either the computer or the VoIP phone would work better as some VoIP services will not recognize the adapter and will not function as a result. If the computer is the preferred method then specific software will need to be installed and a microphone will need to be connected. Other than the fact that the VoIP phone will attach directly to the broadband connection, it works like a normal phone.

Calling other VoIP users will normally be free of charge; however connecting to traditional phone lines will likely cost the user money based similar factors as a normal phone. Details of payment will of course depend on the VoIP provider. Some will allow the user to call anywhere for a flat rate while others will operate more like a current phone service. Who a user can call varies depending on the provider as well. Some will allow users to call any number whether it is VoIP or not. Others will be limited to only those who are using VoIP. In order to call a traditional phone, there is no need for any specialized equipment; the user simply dials the number as he normally would, making it the same as a normal call.

One of the main advantages to VoIP is that the user no longer needs a separate phone line and a broadband connection. Both the phone and internet now works off of the same line and so the user saves money and effort with the upkeep of two different lines. In today's world where cell phones have nearly make land lines obsolete, this is a huge advantage. Beyond this, VoIP has available features that a traditional phone will not. These are of course specific to the provider of the service and what they are willing to offer.

While VoIP is not without its drawbacks, it is possibly the future of voice communication. As computers are becoming more and more accessible, the need for a separate device to handle voice conversations is becoming less and less. Given a decade or two the kinks inherent in VoIP will likely be worked out and it could replace land lines altogether.

Computer Viruses and Trojans - What Are They and What Do They Do?

A virus is known to many as an agent that causes different diseases. They have many modes of infecting all of the members of the animal kingdom. Although there are different types of viruses, they have one commonality; they are all harmful. Nowadays, the term virus has taken a different turn when it comes to the meaning. Now, it is more commonly associated with anything that brings a computer to its demise or to something close to that.

Computer virus has to be the most popular phrase when the thought of internet comes to the minds of most people. The reason is that they remember the destruction it brings. Computers have changed the way all people live. It has become important in all aspects of living may it be politics, religion or business. Just when we thought it could not get better, the Internet came along. Among all of the benefits of the internet, the one that people are most happy about is how it made communication much easier. In the old days, the only connection you have to your loved ones in other countries is through mail or telephone. Now, there are more efficient and faster ways of communicating. You can send an e-mail or a private message which will only take a few seconds and your message will be received immediately.

This advancement took a tragic turn when someone smart enough decided to make a computer virus. A computer virus, sticking to the true meaning of the word virus, is something that infects a computer, jams its programs and causes many problems to the user. It can bring any time of destruction from a small computer glitch to making your whole computer system crash.

Sadly, there are many ways that a virus is transferred from one computer to another. Storage devices such as USB can be a medium to transfer a virus. If two or more computers are connected via a network connection, a virus can be transferred. The most devastating news is that not only can it be transferred offline; it can be transferred online too. The internet became the most notorious aspect of the computer when it comes to getting it infected.

This is why the whole world, or the people who uses computers, rejoiced at the birth of antiviruses. These are the programs that are designed to track down and get rid of computer viruses from its system. Now, there are many ways on how to protect your computer using antiviruses. Although there are many antivirus programs out in the market today, they have one common factor: they prioritize prevention. They gave importance of detecting a virus that is threatening to invade a computer so that they can block it before it can cause any harm. Now, antiviruses are also wise enough to detect viruses that are already in the computer before they were installed and delete or clean it.

Aside from antiviruses, the users can also follow guidelines to prevent their computer from getting infected such as don't access sites that are about pornography since most viruses are found here.

What Is A Home Business?

First, let me clarify what kind of Home Business I’m discussing. There are many different kinds including just about anything that you could do from your home. I’m specifically talking about the kind of home business you do from your computer on the internet. It could be either a part time or full time opportunity.

Most online home businesses are involved with promoting another companies goods and services. The kind of goods and services varies greatly. This is the simplest and least costly way to start a home business as most people do not have products of their own to sell.

So why should I sell another companies products? The simple reason is because they pay you a commission on what you sell. Here again, how this is done varies considerably from one company to the next. Generally they have created what is called an affiliate program which you can join -- either for free or for a fee. You then become an affiliate of that company, kind of like a salesperson, but you are not an employee of the company.

Now this is starting to sound like a REAL business! That is exactly my point and that is what you should expect if you are interested in starting your own. Just because it is done on the internet with visibility to the world, don’t expect it to happen overnight -- even though that is what most of us would like.

A home business can be a success if our expectations are right and we pursue it like any other legitimate business opportunity!

Several things to consider if you are considering your own business:

1. DECIDE WHETHER TO JOIN A COMPANY’S AFFILIATE PROGRAM OR PURSUE OTHER OPPORTUNITIES. There are many different ways to start a home business. My suggestion would be to start with only one opportunity and learn it so that you are not overwhelmed with information and training. If you are just starting out, there is a lot to learn -- but it is not difficult -- just takes a little time. Support from an affiliate program can assist you with the learning curve.

2. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND RESEARCH BEFORE YOU SELECT A COMPANY FOR WHOM YOU WILL WORK WITH. No one wants to spend time, effort and money building a business only to end up with promoting a business product which is no longer available, or is not available globally. How and when they pay their commissions should also be considered. Is the company a member of the Better Business Bureau? Are the products something you would buy? Do they have products? How long have they been in business?

3. FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH MONEY YOU CAN SPEND EACH MONTH ON YOUR BUSINESS. With an online business, it does not take much but you need some method to promote with. Setting up your own website is probably the most common way and can be done with a minimal investment. If lack of money is an issue, there are free ways to promote but more time involvement is required.

4. MAKE SURE THE COMPANY YOU WORK WITH PROVIDES TRAINING AND SUPPORT. This can be a huge benefit if you are just starting out. Once you learn, you can find your own niche or specialty and perhaps become the next home business guru.

Starting your own home business can be very exciting and rewarding! It can also be a solid source of income for years to come. Don’t expect it to just happen, but it will with perseverance and determination. There are not very many other business opportunities like this which you can start so easily from your home. Take advantage of it!

Tips For A Successful Internet Business

Let's take a look at Business and Business Philosophy. A business exists to 1) provide a service or product to customers and 2) to make a reasonable profit for the business owner.

In the past this took the form of two kinds of traveling salesman (the itinerant traveling salesman, working out of his wagon or truck, who brought otherwise unavailable products to places who simply could not economically travel the distance required to find those products...and the "drummer", or "route salesman" who went to the various "fixed location" businesses and sold them their "restocking supplies") and the "fixed location" businesses (stores) who carried a selection of "most needed" products in their store for customers to come in, select from and purchase.

Pretty much this mode of operation stayed true from the mid 1800's to the late 1900's. But by 1990 there was a new inroad into this model of business -- and business philosophy. Or was there? And just what was that inroad?

The Inroad was "The Internet", in existence since the 1960's, started "going commercial" by about 1990. It is now 2005 and this commercialization is an ongoing and evolving process. Business has changed and is changing. Many fixed location storefronts also have web locations and offer home delivery for online ordering, even for local customers. But how about "Business Philosophy"? It is changing, also? Or is it?

Right now internet businesses are proliferating at an alarming rate. I cannot count and possibly no one can count the total number of internet businesses in the world today. There are probably between 100 and 1000 "new" internet businesses starting every day somewhere in the world, and this figure could be much higher. There even is a "new category" of business which has evolved, sort of to keep track of those businesses.

No, it is not the electronic store front which offers products or services to customers anywhere in the world (though this is a major evolution from a standard "fixed location" real store front on your local street), nor is it the "hosting service" which electronically locates and "displays" your electronic storefront for customers to find. They are not unlike the building owner who sublets space for offices and stores. The new type of business is the "search engine" which "locates, catalogues and categorizes" all of these various business enterprises and allows you to find what you are looking for.

It is said that there are hundreds of different search engines out there, proliferating and multiplying like lemmings...and, like lemmings, falling by the wayside for various inadequacies. Except for the best and biggest. The number one "search engine" is probably Google. However, MSN is gaining and Alexa, All-the-Web, Alta Vista, AOL, Ask Jeeves, Lycos, Matilda, Scrub the Web and a few others may be considered the "major" search engines, those which comprise, say, 95% or more of total search engine use worldwide.

There is possible a second type of "new business" brought to us by the Internet. This is the browser. In fact, the browser and the search engine work hand in hand and are completely different entities. Basically, they generally are set to work hand in hand and mutually complement one another. In fact, in my mind, the search engine is slightly more valuable but less independent.

The Number One Browser is likely to be Microsoft's Internet Explorer. But there are several more "major" browsers, which include AOL/Netscape, Firefox and Opera, as well as many more. These four probably comprise more than 95% of the worldwide "browser use" on the internet.

You could compare them (very loosely) thusly: look at the search engine as an exquisitely detailed map, showing not only everything that is there by business and location, but everything that is inside those locations -- the books and other resources within a library, the entire stock of the local store, all the services of a print shop, etc. And look at the browser as the vehicle that gets you from where you are to the resources, products and services you are looking for. It's nice to have such a detailed map but the map is useless without the ability to go there and see and use what is there.

The search engine, slightly more valuable in a sense, is not a "stand-alone" item. It requires a browser to be truly functional. The browser, however, is a stand-alone item which benefits mightily by the information the search engine provides. Compare the search-engineless browser to a long trip in a vehicle with an occasional rare find -- a resource you may or may not have been looking for.

So for you to be successful in your internet business endeavor you must not only be there -- on the internet -- and accessible to browsers, you must find a way to "be found" by the search engines and mapped so that the people using the browsers can find you.

To do this you must do several things. You must build your web site cleanly and meeting the "search criteria" of the various "search engines". Ideally you will want to use a pleasing layout, probably a cascading style sheet, optimize your verbal content for the search engine algorithms and engage the services of someone who really knows how to do this kind of work. You must also carefully, very carefully indeed, select the host for your web site. More on this in the next article, but see my #1 web site below.

I personally recommend Lawrence Deon of http://www.rankingyourwaytothebank.com/
I have seen several resources out there similar to what Lawrence Deon provides and they range in price from triple the cost to more than 10 times the cost...and they don't do anything that Ranking Your Way To The Bank doesn't do.

Organic Greens dot US ranks right up in the top 10 for nearly 20 different search terms and on most of the world's major search engines. This is purely thanks to Lawrence Deon. I have this one up and three more right now in varying stages of construction, all with Lawrence Deon's help. And I have more web sites up which are designed with thanks to Lawrence Deon.

A Home Based Business -- Who, Why, When and Where To Start?

Everyone loves a Home Based Business Opportunity. I love mine and you cannot be an exception I guess! So let us start from the beginning and explore as to Who, Why, When and Where you could start this Business Opportunity using the Internet.

Who?

Anyone with a desire or urge to start a Home Based Business can venture into this field. All you need is a computer and who has not got one or access to one these days? An elementary knowledge of the working of a computer and the Internet is sufficient to get started. Many things can be picked up as you progress. This is what most of the people do.

The beauty of this Internet Home Business is that Age and Sex, Race and Religion are no barriers. It is sans borders. Entrepreneurs living in any part of the world can participate in thousands of Affiliate programs that are either Regional or Global in nature.

There are many programs that are Free to join! In fact there are several Affiliate programs that provide Entrepreneurs with Free Websites and Tools too. You could have your own personal website if you are prepared to spend a few dollars.

Why?

This is a pertinent question indeed! Some of the reasons for starting a Home Based Business are:

1. A desire to earn an Additional income to supplement the monthly income.

2. A desire to run your own home business and not depend on your Boss's pay packet

3. Dissatisfaction with your present Boss or your employment.

4. Being out of work or laid off.

5. Circumstances forcing you to be with the family or aging parents.

6. A Childhood ambition to have your own business.

When?

You can start a Home Based Business at any age. It can be at twenty, fifty or even at seventy. What matters most is that you have to be sufficiently motivated and have the urge and desire to do it.

Allocating two hours a day for your cherished dream should not be difficult to start with. In fact about twenty hours a week would be useful and advantageous. I am aware of people who have retired from active work but are keeping themselves gainfully occupied by doing an Internet Home Based Business.

To be successful in life you should have a Plan, more so for your Internet Business Opportunity. Draw up a short term and a long term plan for what you intend to achieve. Initially draw up a Plan for the first three months to start with and try to stick with it, come what may.

While you are at the computer, Pop ups and other advertisements can and will divert your attention from your objective. Do not run after the goose that is going to lay the golden egg for you and waste your valuable time.

Top Marketers are brilliant people who spend much time and money in researching how to divert your attention and I can tell you, they are not going to fail! I should know! I have been in the marketing business for several years though not in the internet field. Hence you should remain completely focused on your work.

Where?

Unlike in a brick and mortar business, to operate a Business from home, the Home Based Business Entrepreneur needs no separate building. Your physical place of business will be your very home and no high start up fees is necessary. The computer can be set up wherever you like so that it is convenient to work with and free from noises and distraction.

Your success will to some extent depend on the support you receive from the members of your family. The spouse can be of great assistance by reading and researching resources and articles and doing a lot of other preliminary work, which can substantially reduce the number of hours you have to spend on the computer. In other words your spouse can be your partner in your Home Based Business.

The greatest benefit of this Internet Business Opportunity is that it works twenty-four hours (24/7) a day and is Portable. Wherever you travel, within the country or to any part of the world your Business travels with you. You have to carry your laptop along, that's it. Otherwise find access to a computer. It is as simple as that.

Why wait? Start working on your Home Based Business seriously. Work at Home, Work from Home or Work away from Home and reap the benefits the Internet Revolution has showered on you, the Internet Entrepreneur.

How to pick a domain

If you are reading this you might be close to setting up your first website ever or you can be a person with experience that is just curious to see if there are things that you might have missed. Whatever the case is I hope to be able to provide you with a few of the things that I personally feel are important when you are picking the right domain name for your new site.

I assume that you have already found the topic that you are going to be focusing on and therefore I will not go into any of the things that relates on how to find a profitable market online. The reason I say this is that I assume that you new site will somehow have a business related theme as a personal website with pictures of your family and stuff doesn't need much consideration when choosing the domain name.

So let us get into the things that I strongly feel you would have great benefit from.

It is a know fact that more and more traffic (aka visitors to your site) comes from the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN (which has now launched their new site called Live). So with this fact in mind you will need to find out how to get the best possible placement in the search engines so that people will come visit your site.

Most online marketers agree that from a SEO point of you the right keyword rich domain name can help your site rank better that if you are not using a keyword rich domain name. You might say that site like Nike.com, Amazon.com and Ebay.com doesn't have keyword rich names and you are absolutely right.

However the difference between you and the great site is that they have much larger advertising budget than you have and therefore they can get away with having names that doesn't make much sense. So if you are on a small budget I suggest that you go for the keyword rich domain name approach.

Choosing a keyword rich domain name does not mean that you will have to end up with a name that nobody will ever remember. That can be the case but it doesn't have to be. Let us say that you are going to create a site that deals with pets. Maybe you want to sell pet toys and other accessories.

What I would do is to go to the site called: http://www.wordtracker.com/free-trial.html and sign up for the free trial. Once you have received the e-mail from WordTracker you would enter "pets" in the field.

You'll see that the word "pet supplies" has a count of 2,000-2,500 visitors in a 90 day period. If you had paid for the full version of WordTracker (I strongly recommend that you do) you would have found that for the keyword phrase "pet toys and supplies" and that 145 people are searching for that particular phrase every day and that there are only 857 sites competing for that exact phrase.

Now that is great information and you can now use it for finding a domain name that will 1) Tell your visitors what it is that you do and 2) hold some really great keywords that you will want to target to rank in the search engines.

If you go to the site called: http://idenion.dk/tools/multidomaincheck.aspx you'll be able to enter domain names in the box and test whether they are available. I have just tested the domains pettoysandsupplies.com and pet-toys-and-supplies.com and both of them are available. That is great news as the domains names will help you some of the way to get the high rankings that you want.

Make Money Blogging!

You have created a blog and your blog is dedicated to a niche industry. Have you ever thought that the blog could make money for you? We would look here in this article, ways and means, to make money blogging. Lets first have a look at what are the prerequisites for a blog needed to make money:

1. Blog needs to be dedicated to a niche market.
2. Updated regularly.
3. Enough back links (Don't worry for it. Directory submission would be enough to begin with)
4. Good blog host or application (blogger, Xanga or typepad recommended), and
5. High quality articles or news items supported with images.

Get the above criteria in place and Hurrah... You are ready to make money blogging.

Top 5 Ways to Make Money Blogging
Lets now take a look at top 5 ways using which you could make money blogging:

1. Google AdsenseGoogle Adsense delivers text and image ads to the authorized websites/blogs depending on the content of the website. Small code is required to be pasted at proper locations on a webpage and Google automatically recognizes the page. Google shares the revenue it gets from the advertisers whenever a visitor clicks on these ads.

Google bills advertisers on price per click basis (PPC). Advertisers are required to pay only when any visitor clicks on their ads. They bid against each other for the keywords in order to receive better placement and thus prices for each keyword differ from one another. It is better to choose keywords for your blog which pays high $ per click.

2. AmazonAmazon Associate program is another important way to make money blogging. The Amazon Associate program gives opportunity to website/blog publishers to promote any product from its inventory by adding a predefined code to their website/blog, which, when clicked by a visitor, takes them to the relevant product page. Once the visitor buys the product, the blog owner will be compensated with a commission.
3. BlogadsYou can use Blogads as an effective tool to have a better control over the advertisers in your blogs. You can analyze and compare your profits with any one of your online agencies. Blogads can be simply specified as an advertising service used for the web logs or blogs. From the total money generated by Blogads, it retains 20% of it and the remaining money is paid to you through PayPal or checks.
    Alternative Services:
  • Crispads is another useful network focused on the blogs. You can put your advertisements in their blogs using Crispads. You can move through their RSS/ATOM feeds that help in generating revenues.
  • Tagword - It is similar to Blogads. It makes you select the ads and their price.

Users can place their text-based ads in the site within minutes and the ads will be displayed instantly on the website.

4. Affiliate ProgramsYour affiliate programs can help you earn a lot of money for selected products and services. Lot of websites offers you to become affiliate members. These affiliate programs can provide a better reach and an in-depth exposure to the products. The commissions for the sales differ according to the quality of the product, sales and marketing strategy involved. You can gather information related to the commissions by looking into the catalogues of Link Share and Commission junctions.
5. Text LinksText links has emerged out to be the best form of moneymaking source that you can use instead of cluttering or crowding the page with ads. You don't have to make these text links prominent within your website. This link can act as an extra value to your site and will also help to promote the rankings of other sites. In most of the cases you will find these text links placed in the bottom of the web pages. The best part of this strategy is that the publishers send and accept links as the market continues to grow.

13 Steps to Successful Blogging

Blogs can be a very marketable and very profitable tool if used correctly. Profiting from blogs is just a matter of grabbing the attention of an audience and not doing any actual salesmen selling. In this article you will learn the 13 most essential steps to successful blogging.

1) Where to start?
You should begin your blog with a free blog hosting service such as Journal Home. I don't say that because I'm the owner, but a free blog host is very rewarding for a new blog. Starting with a free blog hosting service allows you to begin blogging instantly without having any advance knowledge of scripts, hosting, or programming. It allows you to build an audience and buzz for your blog. It allows you to focus on your content and not the internal maintenance of the blog. The best benefit of starting with a free service, is in the case your blog doesn't become successful you do not lose any money or are you left holding the bill. The great thing about a blog is that they are organized in chronological order, your latest entry is displayed first. When your blog traffic grows greatly and you are ready to upgrade to your own domain then you can simply make your last blog entry the announcement of your "move". Simply add a last entry stating that your blog has "moved" and type the new blog URL address. Which directs visitors to your new blog site, keeping your following, without a major inconvenience to anyone. Upgrade as you need to...but only when you need to!

2) Niche
A niche is a targeted product, service, or topic. You should first decide on a product, service, or topic which interest you. Choose an area which you can enthusiastically write about on a daily basis. You can use keyword research services like Google Zeitgeist or Yahoo! Buzz Index to find popular searched topics. It does NOT matter if your topic is popular as long as there is a audience for your topic and the topic is precisely focused then your blog should be successful. Anything can be considered a niche as long as it has a target audience no matter how large or how small the audience is. A blog about your cat can be a niche or a blog about the species of the cat family can be a larger niche market, if there are people who are interested in hearing about your cat or the species of the cat family, then you have a niche...you can even choose to build your audience for a market which an audience does not exist, but first you must build your blog.

3) Update Daily (nothing less)
This step is a must and not a suggestion. Updating your blog daily not only keeps your blog more interesting to readers, but it also gives your blog fresh content on a day to day making it more appealing to search engines. Not updating your blog on an occasional holiday or one day here and there is understandable to most, but missing days at a time or weeks is unacceptable and will most likely result in your blog being unsuccessful. To keep your blog traffic and retain your visitors interest it is a must to update your blog daily with multiple entries. Though, I am seeing a growing trend of successful blogs that are not being updated daily, but they are successful and have a stable audience who continue to visit their blog daily. Regardless, these blogs are still updated weekly with multiple entries. Until you have a steady audience you should try to update your blog everyday with at least 3 or more daily entries. The best way to accomplish this is to set aside 1-2 hours a day for tending to your blog and adding new entries. It may even be wise to schedule a set time which you dedicate to your blog each day. Give yourself work hours and treat your blog as a job, what happens if you don't come to work for days or weeks...you lose money or worse you get fired! Same applies here...if you don't update your blog for days or weeks you'll lose visitors.

4) Traffic
It's no secret. You must have traffic to profit from blogs. There are numerous ways to build traffic. Paid advertising, free advertising, viral marketing, search engine marketing, RSS/XML feeds, and word-of-mouth. You should always use your blog URL address in the signature of your email, forum discussions, message boards, or any other communication media. You should submit your blog URL address to search engines and blog directories. You should submit your RSS/XML URL feed to blog ping services like Technorati, Ping-O-Matic, and Blogdigger. You should confidently share your blog with family, friends, co-workers, associates, and business professionals when it relates. Many blogs can be considered as a collection of articles, for this purpose you should submit your blog entries (those that are valuable and lengthy articles) to content syndicators like GoArticles.com or ArticleCity.com. Once submitted your articles can be picked up and published by others. The trick is to make sure you include your Blog URL address in the "About the Author" passage. What this does is create link popularity and backlinks for your blog, when someone picks up your article from the syndication then publish the article on their website the "About the Author" passage is included with each publication and the link you included is followed, crawled, and indexed by search engines. Imagine if your article is popular enough or controversial enough to produce 10,000 publications across the web. The search engines is bound to find your blog in no time with that many publications and credit you a authority on the topic, in return increasing your rank on search engines. The small effort of writing a well written article is rewarding. You should try to write at least 1 full length article every week for syndication and submit your article to at least 10 article syndicators.

5) Track Your Blog
How do you know if your blog has traffic? Just because no one is leaving comments doesn't mean your blog isn't growing. Many visitors do not leave comments but they are returning visitors. I know it sounds crazy but with blogs people are more interested in what "you" have to say! Many visitors do not comment their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. Some do not comment at all, but are active daily visitors.

Tracking your blog does not have to be overly sophisticated usually a simple free page counter like StatCounter.com or Active Meter will do the trick. Install (copy/paste) the code into the html of your blog template and start tracking your visitors. Its better to use a service which gives you advanced traffic analysis, such as keyword tracking information, referral information, and search engine information. Visitors, returning visitors, and unique visitors should be standard for any page counter service you choose.

6) Listen to Your Audience
When using the proper page counter you should begin to see how others are finding your blog and if through search engines then which keywords are being used to find your blog. If constantly your blog is being found by 1 or more keywords then focus your blog around those keywords to make it even more powerful. When writing entry titles and entries use the keywords as often as possible while keeping the blog legible and interesting.

7) Multiple blogs
Use multiple blogging accounts (free) to attract more people. This means you should have a blog with JournalHome.com and others. The more blog accounts the better (be sure to read and adhere to the Terms of Service for each site). You can copy/paste from 1 blog to all others. Having different blog accounts is like having a publication in different newspapers. This enables you to attract more visitors and this also increases the chance that 1 of your blogs will be in the search engine results for your focused keywords.

8) Short & Concise
Aside from the lengthy article a week for syndication and publication your blog entries should be short & concise (if you can help it). Sometimes there are exceptions to the rule and you have no choice but to blog lengthy entries, but try to avoid this as much as possible. You do not want your blog entries to become hours of reading. Visitors like to easily find information and skim through your entries. It is good to be detailed and provide useful information, but do not include useless information or run away sentences that veer away from your topic. Stay keyword-focused.

9) Digital Art
Try to include non-advertising graphics, pictures, photos, and art in your blog entries. Not too much. Once a week is fine. Graphics can sometimes bring your blog to life. Of course, the content of the blog is the most important aspect and you do not want to overshadow your content with graphics, but displaying graphics can add a bit of spice to the blog. Be choosy about your graphics and make sure they fit your entry topic. You should add content with the graphic, at least a caption. Original graphics, photos, pictures, and art is recommended.

10) Keep it Personal
A blog is most successful when it is kept personal. Try to include personal experiences which relates to the topic of your blog entry. Stay away from the business style of writing. Write with a more personal style and use first-person narratives. Do not write any of your entries as sales letters, instead share product reviews and personal endeavors.

11) Interact With Your Visitors
You now have the traffic you deserve. You should begin interacting with your visitors. Create a regular theme such as: "Monday Money Tip" or "Picture of the Week" which entices your readers to look forward to each week.

Give your readers advance notice about a product, service, or topic which you are going to review and then talk about later. If the President was scheduled to give a speech then in your blog you should state that you "will discuss the speech and give your opinion after the speech airs. Comments will be appreciated".

Try your best to find exclusive information that not many have. Do not disclose any confidential or secret information which is deemed illegal or can potentially get you into trouble, but try to get the scoop before everyone else does. Such as: If your blog was about Paris Hilton (the socialite) and you had a blog entry about "Paris Hilton Getting Married" then it would be interesting to your readers if you had a actual picture of Paris Hilton engagement ring. Give your best effort to dig and search the internet for exclusive information and you will possibly come up with something useful. Your readers will appreciate this and they show their appreciation through word-of-mouth referrals. Imagine how many readers will tell their friends, family, and others about information they only can find at your blog.

12) Make Money
Once your blog has gained some real momentum and your blog traffic is increasing then it is time to start thinking about turning your traffic into profit. You should use contextual advertising, like Google Adsense or Chitika. Contextual advertising is usually text links which use the content of your blog to publish targeted ads on your blog. The payout is usually based on a pay-per-click model, meaning for ever click an ad receives you are paid a small percentage of the profits. In addition to contextual advertising it is good to also use graphical advertising such as: BlogAds.com, Amazon.com, MammaMedia, or General Sponsored Advertising.

13) You're a Professional
You're a professional now! What are you still doing with that free blog hosting service? It is time to upgrade to a domain hosted solution. You need to get a web host and choose a domain name for your blog then check its availability. Select the blogging software you wish to use, such as: Squarespace.com, WordPress.org, MovableType.org, TypePad, etc. When you have your new blog domain setup and ready for traffic then it is time for you to announce your move on all your previous blog accounts. Your last entry to the blog should be a "move" announcement. The title should be "Moved" and the blog entry should state something like "I have a new home for my blog, please bookmark and follow the link: http://www.YourNewBlogDomainName.com". This way all returning visitors and new readers should not have any problem finding your new blog domain. Plus, search engines can easily index and crawl your new blog, since your old blog should already be popular with the search engines.

At the level of a professional blogger you may want to team up with 1 or more other bloggers. This will create a more interesting and more powerful blog. The old saying "two heads is better than one", more authors mean more advertising and exposure because each author will have a vested interest in the blog. The idea of a team blog is to make it profitable and rewarding for all authors, while continuing to target the blog topic and keeping the blog interesting for visitors.

Following these blogging techniques should make your blogging experience much more rewarding. There is no guarantee that your blog will become popular or a household name, but the effort should at least put you one step closer. Making money online is not an overnight experience like many may think, but making money online is definitely a foreseeable possibility. As well, growing popularity on the web is not an overnight experience, but through time, dedication, and persistence you will be rewarded with all the royalties of blogging.

How Search Engines Work

search engine operates, in the following order: 1) Crawling; 2) Deep Crawling Depth-first search (DFS); 3) Fresh Crawling Breadth-first search (BFS); 4) Indexing; 5) Searching.

Web search engines work by storing information about a large number of web pages, which they retrieve from the WWW itself. These pages are retrieved by a web crawler (also known as a spider) - an automated web browser which follows every link it sees, exclusions can be made by the use of robots.txt. The contents of each page are then analyzed to determine how it should be indexed. Data about web pages is stored in an index database for use in later queries. Some search engines, such as Google, store all or part of the source page (referred to as a cache) as well as information about the web pages, whereas some store every word of every page it finds, such as AltaVista. This cached page always holds the actual search text since it is the one that was actually indexed, so it can be very useful when the content of the current page has been updated and the search terms are no longer in it. This problem might be considered to be a mild form of linkrot, and Google's handling of it increases usability by satisfying user expectations that the search terms will be on the returned web page. This satisfies the principle of least astonishment since the user normally expects the search terms to be on the returned pages. Increased search relevance makes these cached pages very useful, even beyond the fact that they may contain data that may no longer be available elsewhere.

When a user comes to the search engine and makes a query, typically by giving keywords, the engine looks up the index and provides a listing of best-matching web pages according to its criteria, usually with a short summary containing the document's title and sometimes parts of the text. Most search engines support the use of the boolean terms AND, OR and NOT to further specify the search query. An advanced feature is proximity search, which allows you to define the distance between keywords.

The usefulness of a search engine depends on the relevance of the results it gives back. While there may be millions of Web pages that include a particular word or phrase, some pages may be more relevant, popular, or authoritative than others. Most search engines employ methods to rank the results to provide the "best" results first. How a search engine decides which pages are the best matches, and what order the results should be shown in, varies widely from one engine to another. The methods also change over time as Internet usage changes and new techniques evolve.

Most web search engines are commercial ventures supported by advertising revenue and, as a result, some employ the controversial practice of allowing advertisers to pay money to have their listings ranked higher in search results.

The vast majority of search engines are run by private companies using proprietary algorithms and closed databases, the most popular currently being Google, MSN Search, and Yahoo! Search. However, Open source search engine technology does exist, such as Dig, Nutch, Senas, Egothor, OpenFTS, DataparkSearch and many others.

PSD To HTML

ou have just finished putting together an awesome design for your client. You are happy with it. Your client is happy with it and green lights the project to move forward. Now you need to convert that beautiful layout into a functional web site. How do you go about doing that? Do you have the time? How far away is your deadline?

There are many different ways a designer can get a project converted. One option that every designer will have is to do the actual conversion themselves. Converting a project into a workable website is not a very difficult job but it can be time consuming. The problem with the designer doing the PSD to HTML conversion is normally the designer is well versed in creating the design and not necessarily knowledgeable in the actual conversion process. The conversion process can take even longer to complete if they don't even know the basics of HTML or CSS.

A popular way most designers use to convert their projects into HTML is to use the graphic software that the design was created in. For instance if the design was created in Photoshop or Gimp, these can be used to help in the process. Graphic design tools can be easy to learn and use since you don't have to learn about any actual PSD to HTML codes. For a designer this is one option for converting their PSD designs into HTML, but they do need to keep in mind that for overall success, some prior knowledge of CSS and or HTML is actually needed.

One of the advantages of doing a conversion yourself is the fact that you get to do the work the way you want. You have the freedom to make changes in the appearance to the final product. If you are not pleased, you just make the necessary changes and upload those changes to the server once again until you are satisfied. This can also take up precious development time.

Another method is the use of online tools that have the capability of converting Photoshop files into HTML code. Some of these websites use an automation tool that can turn your PSD file into a template for use in various Content Management Systems such as Joomla or Drupal. Most PSD to HTML conversions generated by these automated sites result in functional HTML pages but the underlying code may not be valid or semantically correct.

Another option that is available and one that has gained popularity recently is to utilize the services of individuals or companies that specialize in PSD to HTML conversions. As with any service, there are different options available as well as cost and are dependent upon the individual or company chosen. This option can save developers and designers precious time and can alleviate the headache of doing the actual coding themselves.

Some of the benefits of utilizing a service provider such as this are semantic code. Once a conversion is complete the underlying HTML should separate the presentation (graphics) from the actual content (information). Another benefit is browser compatibility. Service providers can make sure the project will look the same no matter which browser the visitor is using. Probably the main benefit any service such as this can provide is W3C compliancy. W3C World Wide Web Consortium is the institution that is charged with outlining software, guidelines, tools and specifications every website should follow. These are just a few of the benefits of using a PSD to HTML service and remember most of them have turnaround durations that are as short as two days.

What is the best operating system and why?

The best desktop operating system to use depends on what its intended use will be and who will be using it. There is no specific operating system which can be called "the best" overall, and since most current operating systems share most common and advanced features there is much debate on the topic. A few of the most popular operating system, their pros and cons, and some of their best uses are described below.

Microsoft Windows

Pros:

  • The largest library of programs and applications.
  • Some commercial games work only with Windows and DirectX.
  • Almost all hardware has drivers which are compatible with Windows.
  • Most widely used.

Cons:

  • Prone to viruses, spyware, and adware if proper steps not taken such as installation of internet security software, which reduces performance speed.
  • Requires regular maintenance to avoid system errors and reduced performance.
  • Even with maintenance, issues can slowly accumulate requiring a re-installation of Windows to restore performance and fix software issues.
  • Purchasing a Windows license/install disk can be relatively expensive
  • Windows Vista, the most recent version of Windows, has high system requirements.

Notes:

  • Windows Vista, the most recent consumer version of Windows, has relatively high system requirements compared to its Windows XP and other operating systems. There are also other issues, such as some software and hardware incompatibilities or frequent security confirmations, which are causing many individuals and businesses to continue using the older Windows XP.
  • The two most common versions of Windows are Windows XP and Windows Vista. Vista, although it has some issues, does have some new features such as search-as-you-type search and a 3D-accelerated desktop, features up until now only found in Mac OS X and some versions of Linux.
  • With the introduction of Virtual-machine software, Windows has become a popular add-on for Mac and Linux in order allow those computers to support Windows-only software or hardware when needed.
  • The Windows market share has seen some decrease in recent years and months.

Best uses:

  • Gamers
  • People who must use Windows-only software for work or school.
  • People or businesses looking for an inexpensive computer yet do not have the ability to use Linux.

Mac OS X

Pros:

  • Relatively simple and intuitive interface with many advanced features.
  • Not virus or malware prone, generally: there are no Mac OS X viruses in the wild, and with its UNIX base, it is fairly resilient. There are a small number of trojans (malicious software) which have been known to take effect through applications running in Mac OS X, though they are almost always found on illegal-content-based websites and are not of significant concern.
  • Second-largest selection of software, with many high-quality Mac-only programs in existence, such as those found in iLife. Although at one point software for certain tasks were not Mac-compatible, all software is now either Mac-compatible or has an equivalent that is. Most advanced games have also recently became compatible with Mac OS X.
  • Reliable and high performance.

Cons:

  • Limited to Apple-manufactured hardware.
  • Some hardware does not have Mac-compatible drivers, though the number of this hardware has recently become small and negligible.
  • It can be difficult to do certain cross-platform network hardware sharing for a Mac OS X based computer in a Windows network or visa-versa. For example, a printer's Mac driver may not support cross-platform printing to a Windows-connected printer, and replacement drivers may or may not exist.
  • Smaller library of applications in comparison to Windows.

Notes:

  • Macs occupy the medium-range to high-end computer market and as such are not sold for the same prices of some low-end PC brands (e.g. the low-end Mac Mini costs $600 USD yet many mainstream low-end PC brand desktops can be purchased for around $400-500). As a result, Macs are popularly considered to be more expensive than PCs, however Macs have been shown to have competitive pricing to comparable PCs (e.g. the Lenovo Thinpad X300 costs about $2,500 while the MacBook Air runs between $1,800 and $2,700 and outperforms the Thinkpad, or the Dell XPS One prices at about $150 higher than a comparable iMac. Additioanally, the following factors can cause the total price of owning a Mac to be even less compared than that of a PC: Apple iWork is relatively inexpensive compared to Microsoft Office, PCs experience hardware or software failures more frequently than Macs, increasing service and replacement costs, Macs do not require the frequently expensive internet security software subscriptions.
  • Though Mac OS X suffers from relatively very few hacks, security holes in Mac OS X do exist, just like in any other operating system. Also like in other operating systems, they are fixed with software updates upon their discovery.
  • With a relatively low market share compared to Windows, there are still individual programs which are only Windows compatible. However, virtual machine software with a Windows installation or compatibility layer software can allow those programs to run even on a Mac.
  • The Mac has seen significant market share increases in recent years and months, something which has also increased the amount of Mac-compatible software.

Best uses:

  • Students who are not required to use Windows-specific software (though Windows can easily be installed to use Windows software). A recent study indicated that the number of American students intending to purchase Macs has neared that of Windows-based PCs.
  • Home users looking for an easy and reliable computing experience who are willing to pay more than low-end PC prices.
  • Graphic designers and photographers.
  • Scientists.

Linux and other UNIX-based

Pros:

  • Low number of viruses and other malware, similar to Mac OS X
  • Usually free
  • Large selection of Linux distributions to choose from.
  • Has a large amount of free and open source software equivalents to commercial Windows and Mac software
  • More easily customizable
  • Can run many Windows programs with the use of a compatibility layer such as Wine. (Programs such as Cedega can be used to run many Windows games)
  • Reliable with good performance and low requirements.

Cons:

  • Advanced use and installation of some software may require more advanced knowledge than is required for use of Windows and Mac.
  • Many commercial programs do not support Linux
  • Small commercial game library

Notes:

  • There are a few main types of Linux: Debian, Fedora, Red Hat, and SUSE. Ubuntu, a type of Debian, is highly popular among home users, as is SUSE, to a lesser extent. Fedora is more popular among businesses.
  • There are many other (non-Linux) UNIX-based operating systems (with the same UNIX base as Linux), including Mac OS X and SunOS (which are based on Free-BSD). There are also some UNIX-like operating systems.
  • Through customization and software like Beryl, Linux can be made to have advanced desktop effects similar to Aero on Windows Vista or Aqua on Mac OS X.
  • "Dependency hell" can make installation of certain programs on Linux difficult even for advanced users.

Best uses:

  • Experienced computer users looking for a good, free operating system.
  • Businesses looking for reliable and affordable computing, so long as they do not need Windows-only software and have a competent IT manager.

Bottom line

Though there is no one clear best operating system, each does have its advantages and disadvantages, and different people will be best using different ones. Microsoft Windows is the most common operating system and is a reasonable choice for most people. Mac OS X is second-most popular (and gaining market share) and is an excellent operating system for those who can purchase a Mac. Linux is a very good advanced operating system available for free and is recommended for experienced users.

Business Private Email Network: Is it Possible?

When you know the possible corruption and infiltration in an email system, you may wonder if it is possible to have a business private email network. The fact is, it is possible, and in fact, it is absolutely necessary.

For those who are concerned about internet and email security, there is reason for worry. With some persistence, it is possible for anyone to break into private emails, especially at open wi-fi spots, and read, and even potentially change, the contents of an email.

The hijacker can impersonate the true author, or the thief can simply retrieve the proprietary information from the email and send it on, unaltered, to its final destination with no indication that the message has been stolen.

There are other concerns for businesses and email security services, particularly those businesses that are in the health care industry. These businesses are required to comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), and there are provisions in the act that not only require them to provide medical information to the patient through electronic means, but also a requirement that they keep that information secure and unavailable to anyone else who may have an interest in the info.

This presents a huge problem for some businesses, who may be stymied by how to provide the access to electronically maintained records using an electronic signature system as required by HIPAA, but still keeping the information completely secure, also required by law.

For all companies, it's important to choose a secure email client that will protect the information in each email message as it is sent. The best idea is to use an open architecture system that will be supported well into the future, rather than relying on a proprietary system that may not last more than a few years.

While companies with the means to do so can maintain a strict email security system within the IT department, for thousands of mid-size to small companies, such a solution is difficult.

Many companies are unable to afford the overhead in IT, software and tech support such a system.

Many, then, are turning to turnkey systems that are able to make secure email easy and affordable. They encrypt each email message in a way that makes it unreadable to any recipient that does not have a key to interpret the the messages.

There are systems that can provide for encrypted emails by the hundreds are thousands as necessary, with thousands of secure email certificates. There is one secure certificate for each employee and each email address that is in the company.

The best systems have an easy to manage program that can administer all of the digital certificates used in an organization and release them as needed.

Using an 'out of the box' email security solution saves hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars for a business, and still provides them with an outstanding level of email security to protect themselves and their clients. This can provide trust and peace of mind for businesses and the clients who converse with those businesses.

3D Max V.S Maya - 3D Animation Software Review

When you get two strong market contenders the question always arises well which one is the best and what is it that makes it best? The same concept applies to almost any product and the world of animation software is no different.

Therefore, we look at the two major software being 3DMax and Maya. Everything has good and bad points and after all the two products are competitive against each other by their respective owners. The difference here is that both of these dynamic software packages are owned by the same Company. Now that does not make any sense that a company would compete against itself does it? The motive for the acquisition could be to buy the competitor out and then shelve the weaker of the two. This is not the case here however, as Autodesk now owns both 3D Max and Maya and does not intend to take either one of them off the market. It may not sound like it but their concept is very viable.

As we said both of these items, have their strengths and weaknesses but are well liked and well used in the industry. Autodesk simply has decided to take the weaknesses of both and strengthen them with the attributes from its counterpart.

Their strong points.
3D Max is a favorite with the architectural and visualization animators, whereas Maya is the one of choice for TV and film industry. 3D Max has great conceptual modeling tools, large-scale environment creation and works well with other Autodesk product lines to name a few of the main features. Maya on the other hand has amazing character rigging, animation layering as well as motion capture handling capabilities that surpass 3d Max.

Maya has great advantages over 3D Max regarding Nurbs modeling. This is because the software has taken on a different approach in this area, which means it is easier to utilize. Nurbs are complex surfaces it would be the technique you would use to create a polygon for example. The effects that the animator can get regarding fluid are impressive with Maya. It will allow very realistic simulations of fluid and gas reaction in the real and the ocean shader it has implemented produces astounding quality for water animation. In addition with Maya, you can free hand draw and utilize a 3D paint effects that include some special effects as well done with what is called Paint Effects.

To determine which is the best first depends on your budget as 3D Max is more affordable, but if your purpose is Architectural and Visualization then you aren’t going to get a bargain because Maya is better suited here. For the special effects in animation then Maya is the choice. Finally, the decision will come down to what your computer can handle. Maya operates on Windows, Mac and Linux with Max being restricted to Window based systems only. In any event, with either one of these software packages you are going to have the best of both worlds.

Why Use an Online Backup Service

The story is always the same: you know you should back up your computer, but you put it off because it’s a hassle. Where are those discs? Which ones have I used before? What software do I use to do the back up? Where did I even put the disc from my last backup?

It’s estimated that one in every ten hard drives fail each year. Most people know that viruses can wipe out your hard drive, but there’s also the possibility of theft or damage. If you do have current backups of your data – where is that disc? It’s often stored in the same location as your computer, so if a natural disaster were to strike, you are out of luck. If you try to retrieve data from your hard drive it can come with a hefty price - thousands of dollars, and sometimes that data is gone forever. Gone are all your documents, pictures, and music.

Online backup services make backing up your computer simple and effortless. These services are highly recommended by the same professionals that you would pay thousands of dollars to retrieve lost data. With online backup services a copy of your data is stored in a secure, remote location. This means in the event of a disaster, say your house burns down, your data is still safe and secure.

With online backup services, your files, music, and pictures will be automatically backed up at intervals that you choose. Some services even automatically back up any new files that are created or added to your computer. You never have to think about backing up your computer again. No equipment, software, or storage devices are needed. Plus, you can access or add more files to your account from any computer. If you are on vacation and want to backup pictures to free up space on your camera’s memory card – you can do that from any computer!

There are several companies offering online backup services. One of the most widely known services is Mozy – which offers 2GB of storage free. Other companies offer very affordable rates (typically about $5 a month) for online storage. Some companies just have a flat fee for unlimited storage.

All companies will securely store your data in a secure location, but there are differences among the companies. Good services won’t noticeably slow down your PC – at least after the initial upload. You can also look for companies that encrypt your data before, during, and after it’s been sent to industrial strength servers.

One of the key things is the ease of use in the set up, selection of what files and folders you want backed up, and most importantly – getting your files back if you lose them. Most companies offer a free trial period. Use that time to evaluate the ease of the service and go through the process of retrieving data to see what it’s like.

You can compare various remote online backup services and read customer reviews at RemoteOnlineBackup.net.

How to Repair a Xbox 360 Inexpensively

I don’t have to tell you that video gaming systems are really hot these days. From Nintendo WII to the Xbox 360 to the various portable hand held units, video gaming has been big business since the early days of the Atari and a few of its contemporaries. The technology that goes into these highly advanced pieces of machinery is truly remarkable. The graphics that these systems produce today versus what some of the earlier gaming systems put out truly is the difference between night and day.

That in large measure is why people today absolutely love their video gaming systems. The Xbox 360 is one such system.

The dreaded “Red Ring of Death”

Today there are 10’s of millions of owners of the Xbox 360 and every day many of them “goes on the fritz”, suffering what is commonly called the Red Ring of Death (RROD), or you may know it as an e74 error. This happens when the console or the power supply (as Microsoft states) suffers some type of hardware failure, which in turn causes 3 red lights to begin flashing in a semi-cycle on the front of the console itself.

I won’t get into why many of these systems are suddenly becoming inoperable, as that is beyond the scope of this article. The fact remains that when you have a Xbox 360 that you’ve not only spent hundreds on, at time of purchase, but possibly hundreds more that are often spent on games themselves only to suddenly find it sitting somewhere in your home not working, and if you love your system as much as I love mine you may be suddenly and unfortunately facing a number of decisions concerning your Xbox 360 repair.

Again, do to the large cash investment that you’ve undoubtedly shelled out over the months or possibly years of owning your system, it’s easy to see that when it finally “gave up the ghost”(assuming yours has) the first question you probably asked yourself was, not how much is this going to cost me, but how much more is this going to cost me?

I say that because even though when my system died a few weeks after the warranty had expired and although I was very upset about it I already made up my mind that I was either going to buy a new one or I was going to get my current one fixed. It was just a matter of the cost.

Cost to repair a Xbox 360?

The cost to repair an Xbox 360 I found vary anywhere from $59.99 to $140. The $140 is basically what Microsoft will charge you and others holding expired warranties, not to mention the extra expense of having to ship it back to them.

Again you have the cost, in total about $170, including shipping. Then you have to wait as long as 8 weeks (a minimum of 8 weeks, could be longer depending on their backlog of repairs) to have it repaired and returned to you.

Boy, what an absolute pain in the “hind parts”. That whole production would have to be the absolute worse.

I sincerely hope I didn’t just describe you?

If, however, you’re still contemplating what to do about your broken Xbox 360 and you’re leaning towards having Microsoft repair your system, my advice to you is, not so fast.

Why?

Like you when my system went down, I was a little hesitant about what to do but then I found another way, (a why that didn’t include Microsoft intervention) in fact a much quicker less expensive way.

How to fix a Xbox 360?

I reveal the process on my blog. Be sure to watch the short video I have there too, it’ll show you what I did to fix my Xbox 360. And like me you’ll have your system up and running in not time at all.

Quad Core Computer Basics and Their Importance for the High-End Users

With every upgrade of the computer processor, the techno-savvies experience faster processing and better performance. After the dual core computer, the quad core computer is a revolution in the arena of PC processors. Considered as a part of multi-core processor family, the quad core computers have displayed a significant increase in computer performance and there is no doubt that it is much faster than its previous generation processor. The faster performance of the new age processor is due to the algorithms used in the programs and it depends on the type of programs that run.

Wonderful performance:

When parallel programming and multi-tasking ability is concerned, performance of quad core computer is simply excellent. Ranging from high-end video game playing provision, Hardware virtualization, audio transcoding, and data folding, to video and photo editing, voice recognition facility, 3D rendering, and data folding, you can get faster performance in quad-core computers. With the multi threading processing it is possible to run maximum amount of virtual machines, the number depends on the memory space available on the computer though. You can work with virtual studio on XP or XP virtual machine. The specialty of quad-core computer is its multi-tasking performance.

The misconception:

Many people believe that the speed of the quad core computer is four times than that of the single processor computer. The concept is not totally wrong, because the processor can speed up the processing of only those programs that are specifically designed to run on quad-core computer. In those programs, the codes are written in way that allows to processor to perform four different tasks simultaneously. The multi-threading processor of quad-core computer

Comparing two models of Quad core family:

Intel and AMD are two popular brands of quad core computers. Kentsfield is the first of its kind by intel and also known as core 2 extreme quad-core QX6700. Conroe or Core 2 extreme X6800 is its advanced and faster version. The latest `Core` micro architecture technology is the base of these computers. Apart from being low-powered, the latest generations of these computers give high performance. Their excellence in performance can be observed in the fields such as digital content creation, actuarial sciences, engineering analysis, like CAD and financial applications. Ideally, these computers are best for users who require highly accurate scientific calculation. The mainstream and commercial version of quad-core computers from intel is Core 2 Quad Q6600.

The quad core computers from the AMD are based on an innovative technology i.e Silicon-on-Insulator process. Basically, the computers are built on a 65 mn process. The faster transistor is a unique feature of the computer that reduces the wasted heat and power. The computers from AMD has `Enhanced Power Now` feature which adds to the power saving ability of the device. It allows to run each core of the computer at different speeds or turn off any of the core for more energy saving. The enhanced `Crossbar Switch` another useful feature of the computer that allows the user to access different parts of the cores simultaneously. For much faster `Hyper Transport` speeds AMD has developed its quad core computer with integrated memory controller and the latest `Direct Connect Architecture 2.0`.

Quad core computers are basically designed for high end users and not for the general purpose use. Parallel programming, complex algorithm programs, and multithreading can be easily done with this high-end processor. The demand for quad-core computer will significantly increase in near future as the complex coding programming is increasing in every field.

PlayStation 3 Useful Tips

Apart from superior quality gaming, the Play station 3 is a full and complete media centre. It is compatible with almost every form of media format. Here`s how:

The blu-ray:

The Play station3, of course comes expensive with the $400 price tag, but the price soon fades into insignificance because of the presence of the blu-ray player in it. The blu-ray standalone machine is priced at well over $400, so it`s wiser to perceive the Play station 3 as a good bargain in this context. Any blue-ray movie works best with the PS3.

The process is as simple as putting the disk in, starting and stopping it! It comes with the wireless controller or you can have a choice of the bluetooth remote. The PS3 has extremely sharp high definition features and if you own a HDTV, then the blu-ray movie becomes a visual treat for your senses with the staggering 1080p resolution! To make the audio more powerful, be particular to choose quality 5.1 speakers.

Music and more!

The Play station3 has the capability to store MP3 songs in its internal hard drive. What`s more, you can add songs to your customized play list and play them while gaming! The PS3 has storage options as high as 500GB, so it can very well replace your music system at home. If this was not enough, the PS3 comes with some vibrant and trendy music visualizers that respond to the tracks being played.

It also comes with PS3 system updates, which keep on updating on the visualizers automatically. So, kick back and relax with your favorite number with some fantastic visualizers to set the perfect mood for you!

The DVD`s:

The Play station3 has the extraordinary quality in it to be compatible with older disks such as the DVD`s. Just connect your PS3 with a HDMI cable and you can treat yourself to clearer and crispier picture quality. You can very easily fast forward or rewind the clips using the wireless controller or the Bluetooth remote. The PS3 is also enabled to be compatible with `burned` DVD-R`s and DVD-RW`s.

The DiVX:

The Play station is compatible with many video files such as MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, MP4, WMV and DiVX. If you want to transfer the favorite TV shows that you have downloaded in your PC onto your PS3, and then simply place the files in a USB storage drive. Plug in the USB drive in the PS3`s USB port and copy the files over!!

Once the files are copied completely, a 30 seconds preview will be played which helps you to identify the context of each clip. Although the PS3`s DiVX support mechanism isn`t quite encompassing as the Xbox 360`s, but still it can read all your DiVX files without the hint of a problem!

The plus point of photo galleries:

The Play station 3 is a champ in organizing your audio and video files. It is also an expert in playing them flawlessly but it is worth noting here that the PS3 is also adept in arranging and organizing the photos in your digital camera. Though this feature is not a perfect hit among its users, but still the PS3 is a master at it. If you own an older 60GB model, you will have to digicam`s memory card directly into the PS3; else you will have to connect a media stick adaptor to the PS3`s USB port. Once done with this, just copy your files over and view them at your own ease!!

Nothing can beat the Play station3 at being the ultimate in all round entertainment. Its features are simply unsurpassed. So here`s hoping that your next buy is a PS3!!

9 Secrets To Earn A Million In Network Marketing !!

9 Secrets To Earn A Million In Network Marketing!

1.Self belief: You must believe that you have the right to build a huge multimillion dollar home business! The finish line is the starting line for your future! You need to maintain, sustain, develop and grow a huge personal self belief! Many people go out prospecting for people who are out of a job and who need money, when this isn’t working your self belief starts to get lower and lower. The formula that guarantees failure is procrastination + Indecision = Bad results. You need to make the decision to take back your self belief today, you are going to get your self belief back! Take yourself back to the night you decided you wanted to be in network marketing. What was it? What was that thought? Well I know what it was, it was the dream! The dream of going forward, the dream of absolute growth. You need to make the decision to go back to the day you had that dream, regain the determination. What your problem is, is that you have listened to people who have never built an online business before. Recreate the focus. Who you are and why you are doing this!

2.Inviting! Are you consistently earning over $10,000 per month in your home business? If not, then you must be constantly inviting people. The keyword here is invite, not contact and explain. You have something so hot you can’t get rid of it! You must invite people to see this! You need to be explosive! For example “hi, I’m having a network marketing meeting, if you are interested you should come along” right? WRONG! “Hi I’m building a network marketing dynasty and I’m helping my members build their own million dollar business, we have limited spaces, would you like to attend? This is much better! You might ask, “what is an effective invite”? well if no one is showing up, its not effective is it!

3.Rejection: Learn to love rejection! Anything moving forward in life is going to receive rejection! If someone rejects you, say thankyou for letting me know how you feel about my future, so when I’m financially independent, able to work from home, work the hours I choose, spend more time with my family and make millions, I don’t want you to say to me “why didn’t you tell me about this business”! When people reject you, they are going somewhere…what do I mean? Nowhere is somewhere isn’t it! The decision of loving rejection, followed by the action going somewhere equals your result! The business you are in now is a vehicle to take you somewhere! Don’t let people who are going nowhere affect you, your family or your goals!

4.Slave camps do exist! Slave camps in the corporate reality do exist! A slave camp is a suburb. Each morning the labourers move from their quarters to their work post and each labourer is at their post by 7.30am. They then report to their master for the days duties. There they remain chained till 5pm and their released to go home. The slaves have no choice over how many hours they must labour. Sometimes they are required to work overtime till their master decides they can go home. Each year the slaves are told when they can take vacations, how long and when they must return. They are paid not for what they are worth, but for what the job is worth. The slaves remain in great fear because the master can punish them with the firing or layoff whip. Even the good and faithful slaves have felt the sting of the whip. Day by day they work until finally when their to old to work and their master decides to send them to the retirement cam and they wait to die. I KNOW THESE SLAVE CAMPS EXIST BECAUSE I USED TO BE IN ONE! I am a MLM professional. I decide my own hours. I decide when to wake up, when to check my e-mails, when to go to bed, when to go on a vacation and most importantly, when to see my family. There is of course a ray of hope for the slave. He or she can buy their own freedom. The cost is not high, but it seems high to those who do not have the courage to pay the price. What is the price? One must be willing to be their own master!

5.Objections! I love objections, say it! An objection is simply a question in disguise, you must make someone feel comfortable with you and your team. When you answer a question they need to think “this person is confident and strong so I am willing to join their team”! Don’t shy away when someone gives you an objection. The person has the right to question you. Why should I join your program? What am I going to benefit from? I don’t have any money! When people ask you this you cannot shy away. This is why you need someone who as had experience in this to teach you how to answer these questions! Think to yourself “an objection! That is awesome, once I answer your question and prove my knowledge to you, you will join my program”! DEVELOP the mindset to love objections.

6.Work with strength! Build you business with people who are strong on your team. You must choose, who do you want on your team? You are recruiting champions, you are not wasting your time with people who can fog a mirror. You need to remember that for people without a job, this is most likely not for them. Is your volume up this month? Did you recruit new members? You need to start treating your business as a business! Strength and build, identify, map out your team! Develop relationships. This is a business of assisting other people!

7.I am a closer! When one door closes another one opens. Are you looking to close the door on your past and open the door to your new future? Excuse me, I would like to open up a long term business building, fear stopping, income earning, lifestyle changing, obstacle overcoming relationship? Would you mind if I share with you a business that I believe you will see all the benefits that I’ve seen, that is why I’m actively building it constructively and professionally each day? Closing is simply asking for business! Stop wasting time, what you sow, you will reap. Seasons come, seasons go, what you plant today you will harvest forever. I AM A CLOSER!

8.Mentor! Do you have one? To be a millionaire you need to be mentored by someone. Not a lifestyle coach or a feel good coach, you need someone who is going to challenge you. Grab you by the sleeve and say “I love you, I love what you want to do, so this is how were going to do it”! Who’s mentoring me? Ask yourself this? The difference between your commission cheque being $10 a month and $10,000 a month is strategies. Ask yourself, who is around you? Who are you surrounded by? I BELIEVE YOU NEED A MENTOR! Make a decision right now! Am I being mentored or am I just being patted on the back? You need to be pushed and challenged! Your Future is directly linked to your mentor. Without their help where will you be? Once must be mentored or they will remain where they are or go backwards.

9.Decision! Your decisions today predict your future! Take a look at you position and your cheque! Has is grown more that 30% per month for the last year? If not, CUT OFF. Release it if it is not working. There is a reason you are listening to this! Choose to become one of the thousands of millionaires in network marketing! If you implement these 10 secrets, you are going to build a multimillion dollar business. Decide to change the face of your future by taking new active steps today! Champions make decisions, Decisions make champions!
